“It’s scary when you see that.” Olympic champion collapsed from the springboard at the 2023 World Cup

Peter Prevc was carried away from the stadium on a stretcher.

Tragedy nearly struck at the 2023 Ski World Championships. The hope of the Slovenian ski jumping team Peter Prevc suffered a terrible fall during training. He was unable to get up on his own and was evacuated from the track on a stretcher with severe back pain.

“You could see he was in a lot of pain.”

Prevc lost control of his body and skis immediately after leaving the edge of the ski jump due to a problem with the binding of the ski to the boot.

“I saw it fly over and hit the ground. He just rolled down,” said Stjernen, an eyewitness expert at Viaplay.

“It’s scary when you see this. I just watched him land. He didn’t quite do it right, and then rolled down. It was obvious that he was in a lot of pain. It was terrible,” said Viaplay’s Petter Tenstad.

Peter Prevc became a national hero of Slovenia in 2016. That season he won both the World Cup overall and the Four Hills Tournament.
